The German Scholars Organization (GSO) was founded in June 2003 as a not-for-profit organization for German academic professionals abroad. It has headquarters on two continents, in Germany's capital city of Berlin and near Stanford University in the San Francisco Bay Area, USA. Our primary focus is to forge a network of links between German Scholars working abroad and the research and job markets of Germany. By fostering this network we intend to reverse Germany's "Brain drain" and turn it into a "Brain gain". As a non-profit organization we are dependent on financial aid and contributions from our sponsors and partners. All of our board members work without compensation from the organization. Our scholars do not incur membership dues and we offer all of our services for free.
